I have similar passio...We are like-minded in this. I have similar passion and heartbreak, sensitivity and emotion. People like the Pearls and those who follow don't know anything about children, how they learn, how they develop, how God designed them. And really, do they know much about the God they claim to serve? If they are truly seeking God, they should know better. How can you beleive that God teaches us to love and serve others, have compassion and treat others the way we would want...I don't remember te claus that says "except in regards to children". A shepard would never hurt his sheep. The rod was used to guide and redirect. Not to hit and certainly not to beat. And Jesus the "Good Shepard" would never hurt his children. I don't get how one simple line can be taken so out of context and how it can be justified in line with everything else the Bible teaches us?!?!?!

But Satan is all about twisting words and hearts and convincing us we're justified and right.

Not knowing the authors(and those like them), I can be optimistic and assume that they are not malicious people (many of the parents I have meant who are more bent toward similar teachings are not malicious). My guess is that they believe that they ARE trying to live a Godly life. But perhaps blinded by pride? Fear? Anger? Usually pride. A need for control when they feel out of control. Power when they feel week. Many will hang onto this. Not give it up. And no matter what we do, children will suffer. And I cry.

But I am convinced that there is hope for others. That if they can learn something different. If they can have God revealed to them in a new way. If they can have their own hurts and heartaches healed. There is hope. There is change. This is my mission in life. This is what I believe I'm called to do. This is why I started Xylem and am on a crusade to teach and educate families. And I wait and pray that others will join me.Tarahttp://www.parentingwhatipreach.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7833110037555553212.post-82323451434554936592010-02-24T13:27:50.951-07:002010-02-24T13:27:50.951-07:00I saw the links on your FB yesterday and was readi...I saw the links on your FB yesterday and was reading Laurie and Paul's blogs...the story is so sad and tradgic.
